This liqueur is becoming more and more popular and is the base of many drinks. Although blue in color, it has a bitter sweet orange flavor. It comes from the fruit laraha, a citrus fruit grown in the Dutch Island Curacao ( hence the name). Three of the most popular drinks that use Blue Curacao are the Blue Lagoon, Blue Hawaii and Blue Hawaiian. The Blue Hawaii and Blue Hawaiian are two different drinks. The Blue Hawaii was invented in 1947 by bartender Harry Yee at a Hawaii resort. Blue Hawaiian has a few different variations like cream of coconut and the omission of sweet and sour and vodka.
